Unable to set SATA HDD as Primary Master

September 27, 2010 at 07:10:16
Specs: Windows 7, 2gb ram
Help please!!!
I have two hard disks ..one being ide 160 gb and the other one is 250gb SATA...I am running it on ASUS M2A-MX Motherboard...
The scenarios is :-
I have windows 7 loaded on IDE hard disk and no data on SATA hardidsk. When both are plugged in unable to boot ...just gets stuck at the windows logo or somethimes gives blue screen..On the initial page I get it as :-
Primary master cd/dvd
Secondary Master :Sata harddisk
No Ide master detected
For this reason I checked and ensured that in the bios the hard disk is set to primary and Ide as the 1st booting device..But NO JOY....:(
However ,when i just unplug my sata harddisk the IDE hard disk is able to boot to windows7 normally and it works fine....
My priority is set the the sata hard disk as the prmary hard disk and IDE as secondary
as of now using the ide hard disk as it is booting windows and had istalled os on that.
But I dont mind reinstalling the OS in order to make SATA as the primary HArd disk

If you have an IDE CD drive AND an IDE HDD, set the CD as master & the HDD as slave. The SATA HDD should be plugged into SATA1 & you need to configure the BIOS options correctly (enable SATA, enable AHCI) & the boot order.
