The Matsus---a UJDA710 drive in my base station doesn't read DVD or write CDs now. I bought a replacement UJDA710 and installed it in place, with all the same connections. Sony uses a firewire connection between the laptop and the base station, so it shoudl appear ain device manager as Sony i.Link CD-RW DVD-ROM Drive IEEE 1394 SBP2 Device. That's how the old one looked. This one, however, looks in Device Manager in the Disk Drive section as Epson DL-V100 IEEE 1394 SBP2 Device. And this one has a yellow ! mark against it, and an error code of "Cannot start the drive, error code 10", which I understand to be that it can't get a proper response, or rather any response. So I am confused as to why the device seems to reognised differently - DVD/CD drive in one case, Disk Drive in the other; and what to do about it? All the connections are the same, only the actual drive has changed. Could it be a faulty drive? or a different BIOS on the drive? Any help very gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Could be a software issue. Reading CDs does not require the burner software the rest does. Try reloading the BURNER Program -Nero, Roxio/Adaptec. If XP try a REPAIR. Luck,Jim
