I'm having a bit of trouble booting my system. I have ubuntu and windows 7 dual booting where ubuntu is booting to shell, saying it can't find the root directory, and windows 7 gives "Disk Read Error. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to Restart". I've asked my friend and he said he got close to the same problems when the computer wasn't booting the correct partitions, and he was using a command line to get around this error. How can I fix this? I have little experience with fixing these kind of errors.

Well the problems were each OS related. I plugged the Sata drive into the 1st port and ubuntu booted up and reported 400+ bad sectors. I'm now backing up and restoring to a new hard drive.
