two power supplies

Current configuration: Power Supply 300watt, has switch/button for power-on/off
I would like to use 2 power supplies on this system. i have a 250watt power supply sitting around that i would like to use to run my hard drives, cd drives, etc. The 250watt power supply does not have a power button/switch to turn it off or on, and i don't have a motherboard to put it on. How can i do this?

You cannnot have two power supplies on one motherboard.....but with a mod...oh no nevermindyou cant have two psu on 1 mobo..sorry

300 w ps 250 w ps
Attach wires of the same guage from the brown and blue wires of the 300 ps to the 250 ps. Don't use the 12 or 20 pin connector of the 250w ps. Turning on the switch of the 300w will energize the 250w if done correctly.
Note the wire color may differ from those mentioned, so make certain you're attaching to the correct wires or poof two blown supplies and one board. You've been warned. :)
Really, disconnect these ps from your motherboard, and attach a bad drive or something junky to test with as both ps should have some sort of external resistance before powering up.

I have run 2 power supplies in a single machine, one for the motherboard, fans, CD/DVD, and one for my hard drives.
I'm not sure if it would work in your configuration though, because I'm all SCSI and the IDE vs. SCSI specs are quite different.
Overall, it was a real PITA, and I ended up just spending the $$$ for a 500W power supply.
Summary: Are you talking about Redundancy? If so the best and probably the safest way is to buy PSU's that are Redundant by design. Or I guess you could just put one of the power supplies on the shelf as a bac...
