Hi guys,

Could somebody offer any advice on fixing this problem at all, as it's really quite annoying. I just bought an S-Video to SCART adapter in order to use the TV-Out function of my Geforce 4 MX440 (64mb DDR), and have just set it up. However, the quality on my TV is basically abysmal. The reason I wanted to use the TV-out so badly is to watch DivX movies on my television instead of my monitor, but this is nearly impossible as the picture is incredibly grainy, with horrible fuzzy colour lines etc forming around people in films and colours being off etc.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? If I need to change any settings in Nview for the TV itself, can anyone give me specific ideas on what to adjust to increase the quality? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Gareth.

it could be the wires that normally affect the picture reception. try adjusing the wire, makes sure you have a decent wire lead and scart addaptor because cheap ones look rubbisn. try it without the scart adaptor aswell. also make sure everything is plugged in right otherwise the picture quality will look crappy.

just tamper with it a bit.

Check that you have the correct broadcast format selected, PAL or NSTC.

Hello

What you really need is TVTool. This will free up the resources of
your GForce video card. It's a $10 shareware
but it's worth every penny. Of course your
cable between the graphic card output and your TV input must be of good quality.
As an alternative, you can wire your GForce out to videotape in and from videotape out to TV in; in some cases it gives the best results. Good luck.

TVTool will not work with Geforce MX cards. I have an MSI GeForce4 440mx 64mb and it will not recognize the card as compatiable with the software. I checked TVTool's website, they said it does not support the GF MX cards as of the most recent build. I am using an S-video cable to adapter as well, and from the adapter I run a simple coaxial cable to the tv. The picture quality is not as good as on the monitor, but I find it very watchable. What software are you using to play the movies? I use PowerDVD XP 4.0.

Hello Paul44,
I had a GForce 2MX400 and TVTool worked perfectly
well. A friend of mine has a 4MX400 which  also works great with TVTool.The problem is with the NV17 chipset!

from the link I've posted beforehand:
=====================================
There are many inquiries concerning the support of the TV chip NV17, which is used on GF4-MX cards.
Unfortunately the manufcaturer of the chip, nVidia, doesn´t offer any datasheets
nor any technical support. Without datasheets the support is not possible most likely.
If there should be a change about this situation it will be posted on the site.
So stay tuned!

=====================================
be well
Stefan
