TV as second monitor?

I wondered if at all possible, I could use my tv as a second monitor. I have a cheap nvidia fx 5200 which has a DVI port, S-Video and standard VGA outputs. My LCD uses the VGA. It would come in handy if I could use the tv as a second monitor as I do alot of video editing.

You could use your s-vhs port. But be aware that TVs make very, very poor monitors. The resolution is very low, like less than 640x480.

You can connect to your TV from the S-Video port. Since the TV's resolution is low, so it doesn't look good on the TV.

I looked and went through the nvidia guide to doing this but my card doesnt seem to have multi monitor mode. Even though the XFX website says it does!!! I have emailed them. If anyone can help who had the same probs would be great....
BTW I want the tv so I can play the video I am editing in full screen as the tv enlarges better than my crappy LCD

Don't take this for Gospel, but I think you will only be able to use your TV in place of your monitor. In other words, you cannot use it as a second monitor. I think you will need a second video adapter, but I really doubt if you will be happy with the TV as a monitor. I can't believe it would be better than an LCD.

When I am doing video editing, I like to see the output on a tv as it is going to be played on a regualr tv. That is the only reason I want to use it as a second monitor, so I can edit on the LCD then watch on the tv to see how it comes out. I got a mail from XFX confirming it wont use my tv as a second monitor.

you dont have to make the tv a second moniter... since your video card has the extra s-video out, just hook up the tv and use it just to play back the vids. thats whats its for anyway, poeple mostly use that for power point presentations. anyway, you dont need to setup dual moniters to just play back vids via the s-video out.
