ok, just ordered all my parts to build my NICE NEW dreamy comp..

1. P4 830 D 3.0ghz
2. ASUS p5nSLI
3. k byte 512 ddr2 5300 (I just got this tonight, it was on sale at best buy.)
4. nvidia geforce 7950 GT OC
BRAND NEW (tonight) XG vortex 700 ($100)

ok, i am using an old case. i plug everything up... i push start button. blue LED's ,cpu fan and PS fan come for for a split second.. then turn off.. i have to unplug the MAIN power plug from mobo and plug back in for it to "try again"

i took vid card out, disconnected all drives.
still does it..
TOOK WHOLE MOBO out of case. still does it

checked cpu heatsink, reinstalled..

still does it..

what could it be?!?!

UPDATE.. tried PS on my old mobo and cpu..


EXACT SAME RESULTS..
i guess compusa sold me a POS..

anyone concurr to this desicion?
sounds like i got a defective power supply..

Take a 30min break, let the butterflies in your stomach settle down, come back & redo the bench test - this time do things carefully & pay attention to every detail.

Maybe you overlooked or forgot something the first couple of times.

I go have a hotdog.. come back.... for some reason, i re-wire the front panel buttons.... and.. it works...

You should always benchtest a board BEFORE putting it in a case.

The same PSU sells for about $75 online but I wouldn't trust a company that doesn't list detailed specs. You should have gone with a better known brand name. Hopefully you won't have any problems with it.
