I was running an 120gb Sata drive in this laptop. That hard drive crashed on me so i brought an 160gb Sata drive here: http://www.goharddrive.com/ProductD...
I installed vista a got all me drivers and i working on updates. then it restarted again and came up with an error that hard drive is going bad please save data.....I ran seatools on the short test and it said smart was tripped. I ran seatools on an long test it said hard drive had passed. Now everytime i log in it gives me that message. I downloaded. Smart Tools and it ran thought CMD. I typed
"smartctl -H sda" which shows you health and it said that Hard drive is failing please save all data. Is there some way to turn it off. I really don't think that hard drive is failing. and there is no way to turn off smart in the bios......

Why would you buy a recertified HDD? It's very possible that it IS bad.

Try running CrystalDiskInfo to find out how many hours are actually on your "new" HDD.
