occasionally, when i try to turn the computer on it won't boot. cd/floppy drives light up, but it doesn't go any further than there. all fans are working correctly. the problem also happens when rebooting.
i end up having to repeatedly hit the restart button until it decides to boot.
any ideas?

I have a problem like that too. Mine happened when I changed my RAM from SDRAM to DDR. I think it could be MotherBoard and RAM conflicts that cause it. I can't restart I have to completely shutdown or if i restart i have to hit the manual restart button once windows shuts down. But I think its the RAM and MB, or it could be other hardware conflicts for you. I don't know how you would go about fixing it, but I hope i've helped you identify what is causing it.

You could try underclocking your CPU a little.

power supply is 500W and relatively new.
i'm pretty sure all of the connections are in the correct place.
cpufan turns on fine and spins freely every time.

all started when i put new 3000 cpu in, motherboard supports it, made sure bios was updated and everything.
motherboard is Abit KD7-G.
