Comment:
In a couple of days a refurbished hp pc (model number: a6112n) will be shipped to me. I also bought a EVGA 8600GT 256 DDR3- 128 bit card. The problem is I'm fully aware that the recommended minimal wattage for the 8600gt is around 350 watts, and the PC comes with a factory default of 250 watts. I dont get all that amps and rails business but I'm aware that it is very critical.

Specs:
* AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ (2.1GHz, 2000MT/s System Bus)
* 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300 DDR2-667 memory

* 16X DVD(+/-)R/RW 12X RAM (+/-)R DL LightScribe SATA drive
* HP Pocket Media Drive bay
* Integrated graphics
* Integrated 10/100BaseT network interface
* High Definition 8-channel audio

* 90 Day Manufacturer Warranty (Refurbished)
* Ports and connections
o 6 USB 2.0 ports (2 Front, 4 Back)
o Front panel 15-in-1 memory card reader
o 2 FireWire (IEEE 1394) port(s) (1 Front, 1 back)
o 2 PS/2
o 1x LAN
o Headphone; Microphone; Line-in (Front)
o VGA-out
o SPDIF out (coaxial)

o 1x PCI-E x16 slot (available)
o 1x PCI-E x1 slot (available)
* Expansion Bays

I'll try running the thing with the card in the original PSU, and if it starts flaking out I'll go to a local ny store and pick up a PSU.
My list of options at office depot

I checked best buy site for PSU's and I think they overcharge too much.

I'm wondering which PSU would physically fit into the computer and which PSU would be the wisest choice for the system spec wise.

If possible i'd rather not order online due to financial issues, but if it really is the better option I will consider it.

Buy your PSU online. Try newegg.com & plan on spending at least $50 for a decent 500W name brand unit.

Hi, I want to make the same upgrades. I have a Pavilion a6200n. Should I be concerned about the length of the new PSU? There's a length stop at the back of the PSU slot. Can this be adjusted or is it "fixed'? Thanks!
