Specs: Windows 7, 2Gb
Im trying to install windows 7 on a Fujitsu Seimans Esprimo Mobile V5355. The hd has been formatted by the previous owner. I mean he stuck the hd in an external reader and done a quick format.
Now, when im trying to install windows its asking me WHERE DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL and theres no drive listed.
HD shows up in BIOS.

Any ideas?

✔ Best Answer
The hard drive may have failed even though the BIOS has detected it.
Test it with WD Data LifeGuard for DOS on a bootable CD:

It could be Windows 7 doesn't have the hard drive/SATA controller for your laptop, so it couldn't recognize the hard drive.

First, try to change SATA mode in BIOS from AHCI to 'IDE compatibility mode', but it will lose performance benefits of AHCI mode, then try to reinstall Windows.

If the above method doesn't works, you need to provide the correct hard drive controller driver during the installation. Visit the manufacturers website to download the driver.

Try the Custom install options, Partition/Format and delete any existing partition(s), create a new partition and format it, then proceed to install.
This may work if the old partition table is damaged and the install does not 'see' an option available.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
