trying to install a brother mfc scanner/printer to a Dell

August 20, 2014 at 02:40:43
Specs: Windows Vista
I bought a brother mfc scanner-printer. I have a Dell latitude D620 laptop. brother told me I needed to uninstall all dell printer stuff because the computer is still looking for two computers when traying to scan using the brother, therefore, the brother cannot completely communicate with the laptop. I uninstalled the basic DELL MFC printer that I had but the brother will not work still. Because it still has other dell printer stuff inside it.

Please help..

Go to Control Panel > Programs & Features to bring up the uninstall list.
Uninstall anything that refers to the Dell Printer.

Install the Brother software before connecting the Brother printer to your PC.
The software will tell you when to connect the printer to the USB port.

You should be able to have multiple printers installed. I currently have three printers installed and working. Only one of them is wireless and it is networked.

If an installation has failed the first time, you need to remove any reference to that failed attempt or subsequent attempts may fail.

Are you following the instructions for the Brother step by step?

When installing a wireless unit, it is usually easier to install it wired first and the printer will then HELP you setup the wireless features. After that you just don't need to keep the USB cable connected.
