Comment:

I'm having a problem of playing a avi. file, i used both wmp and real player and end up the same result: it looks like it is playing but the screen is blank, no sound, the "seek bar" didn't move, but there are no any warning message from the system.

i'm using a pentium II 300MMX, windows Me, 160MB ram, i have installed both DivX and Xvid Codec. The avi. file is about 160M size, and i dont have any problem of playing other avi. files with such size or high quality.

wish someone could give me some advice, Thank you! :)

I don't think you should be asking this in the Hardware forum. I suggest looking for a video forum or a windows media player forum.

I suggest you download a share ware player like zoomplayer. Its hard to guess the problem if other .avi files work. But if it doesn't work on zoomplayer then the file is probably corrupt.

Download Gspot to see what codec the file requires; also, Gspot will tell you if the file has been damaged.

It could be a DivX avi file http://www.divx.com/divx/
