Trouble upgrade girlfriend's XP laptop 2 Win7

Microsoft Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit

Specs: Windows 7
Hi all

I'm the filling in a big sh*t sandwich at the moment.
My GF had a laptop with XP on it and i tried to put win
7 on it. The cd drive was not reading too well and
during the install i ejected the disk at the wrong
moment (stupid i know.) I went ahead and just tried a
completely fresh install wiping everything and the cd
rom got worse not allowing me to finish the install. I
tried to do a repair off the disk after this and it wouldn't
find an install to repair. When i boot up the laptop now
it says "bootmgr is missing" and to top it all it seems
to have lost the cd-rom drivers and it will not even open
let alone read a disk. Oh and by the way its a fairly old
laptop. A Tiny N11 - model no:8081. It doesn't have
boot from USB either. I am at a total loss and any help
would not only be appreciated but would get me out of
the dog house.

thanks for reading

Make sure to set boot order correct eg.1.Fdd 2.Cd/dvd drive 3.Hdd. Did u check drivers for win 7 before?Make sure the drive is recognized in bios and i never saw win 7 on cd.
