I am trying to convert avi files to mpg so I can burn them to a cd to play on my dvd player. I have used Nero, TMPGenc and 1 other which I uninstalled and can't remember the name. Every time I try to add the avi file with the program I get an error message that says: can not open or unsupported. I've tried it with about 10 different avi files and get the same message with each. I was only able to successfully convert one of my avi files and got this message with all the rest. Can anyone tell me why I am getting this error message?

I've had no problems using a freeware program called avi2vcd.

That is the name of the program I uninstalled....I don't think it's the programs I am using I think it's something to do with the avi files.
