Trick to recover data from failed external HD

Specs: Windows vista, core 2 due/ 3 GB RAM
Hello Team,

1 month ago i baught 1TB seagate portable hard disk and it has just crashed. Now it is not showing up in my computer. I checked in Disk management where my hard disk is showing but with no drive letter.When i tried to right click on that particuler disk, there is no option to change drive letter. and that disk showing only 3.86 GB of memory which is actu. of 1TB. I tried to recover data using 4 data recovery software bt failed to recover even single mb. I had almost 600 GB data in that disk.

Kindly Help me that now what should i do. Please. I will b very thankful to u.

I had the same thing happen to me on my 1.5 TB drive and lost over 1.4 TB of Data, over 100 GB of music alone and family pictures and videos as well. I would like some help with this if any one knows.

Don't laugh........Have you tried putting it in a baggie and placing it in the freezer overnight?

Beat me too it world. It sounds odd guys but sometimes it works temporarily. By far it is not a perm. fix so have somewhere to put the data your trying to recover and you may need to act fast once it is removed from the freezer and connected to the computer. I had one that continued to work until I shut down the computer several hours later and one that would work for maybe 30 minutes at a time.
