I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Our computer screen has been switching to a transparent blue screen and then back to normal. We were using it and all of the sudden the screen turned blue. We can still use the computer and see the stuff on the screen it's just that the whole screen is like a transparent blue. If anyone has any ideas why or how to fix it they would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't post any system specs. What make/model computer? What video card is installed? Have you tried updating the video drivers?

Life's more painless for the brainless.

Is it an LCD or CRT screen? Laptop/desktop system? Onboard video or plug-in graphics card?

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

One thing that can cause that is a broken wire in the cable, if it's a CRT monitor. It's not uncommon for the red wire in the monitor connector to get broken if the monitor is moved around a lot.

It could also be a problem with the red color circuits or the red gun in the CRT. But the broken cable connection is the most common.

Wiggling the cable at the connector while watching the screen will usually show that up.

Thanks for all the help. I know for sure it is an LCD screen if that helps at all. It seems to be back to normal for the time being but I guess we'll have to see. Thanks again!

If the LCD is using the VGA output of the graphics card and not the DVI output, the problem could still be the broken red wire connection. Try wiggling the cable at the connector to see if it produces the problem.
