Hey guys, this is kinda a question, kinda somethin else...
I have like 3 old pc's, one Im using in this project... 366mhz 256 sdram windows xp pro
The thing is, the case is custom... I Found an old component stereo my dad left for me, and I took one of the components, that controls speakers...
Stripped it, so I was left with a bare metal container, some wires to the led's in the front, dials and other stuff (just for looks)
I managed to hook up the power button on the front, to the power switch on the board, same with the power led on the board to the power led on the stereo case...
Now, I hooked up the hd led to a different led on the case, and it worked for like 3 days... but it doesn't work anymore... and this is what Ive tried...
Thought light was bad, so I hooked up the power led on the board, to that light, and it turned on... so the light works...
I also did the opposite, hooked up the harddrive led on board, to the power light, didn't come on... so I thought the board was bad on the part with the hd led connector...I also tried switching the wires around, from pos to neg and switching posts, and that didn't work, with either led...
So, i took the whole thing out, hooked it up to an atx case... plugged in the led's and switches, and both led's work... harddrive and power...
So guys, is there any way to make the hd led work on the stereo... cuz it works in the atx case...
The whole pc works, and looks awsome, but Im just one of those ppl who needs the hd light, so I can check up on my pc...
Thanks guys,

It could be that the hdd pins provide less voltage than the power pins, and so can't light up the heavier duty led. Try taking a multimeter to it and see what kind of voltage comes across those pins when the computer boots or hits the hard drive.
As a side note, why are you trying to install XP on a 366Mhz computer? I really doubt that'll even boot in less than a year.

xp already runs, flies on it... Ill try the multimeter...
PS im using it to run an hlds server
