Hello all.

My friend has a Toshiba Satellite Pro 470CDT laptop computer and I've plugged it in and nothing works except only the power and battery light comes on, not the ON light.

Can anyone help???
Thanks!

I have a similar problem also with a Toshiba laptop albeit newer (1.4 GHz Celeron), and it's serious enough to not bother fixing it. The motherboard inside your laptop is likely shot. On a positive side, your laptop, with a 200 MHz processor, has had a pretty long life.

Good luck.

I build desktops but I would not mess around with a laptop. There are certain places that allow you to "walk in" with your dead laptop, and on the spot they would give you an estimate for the repair cost. CompUSA will do that, BestBuy will not; perhaps a local PC repair shop will do that also. Then you have to ask yourself if it's worth spending good money on a laptop that has practically no value. If it's only the data off the hard drive your seeking, then open the laptop any way you can and get a notebook hard drive case with a USB connection (~$20). Then you can plug it into any nachine with a USB and copy it.

Does it need a long time to charge if the battery is starting from dead? Could that be the problem???
