Whatsup guys, i need help.

i have a toshiba a75 satelite laptop. originally came with windows XP Pro.

well the computer was running slow so my friend knew someone that knew how to work on computers (not a shop)

well i told him i just need to refresh it and clean it out, turned out the idiot tried installing windows ME on there!!!!

so now when i start my computer up, it does not recognize and of my drivers (pci, ethernet control, multimedia, etc) and the pixels on the screen are huge, it has no graphics whatsoever.

so i wen tout and bought the windows XP pro cd to reinstall it on my laptop. well when i put the cd in and start it up, it doesnt do anything, i know its suppose to load a a menu for me to get into the system but nothing happens as if it didnt read the cd!

the computer does not have a floppy drive either. i did get in to my bios and changed the order to where it loads the cdrom/dvd first. bt instead it just loads to a black screen that has 4 options.

1- normal mode
2- bootlog.exe
3 safe mode
4- step by step!!

Sorry for the long post.
im so lost someone help please!

any help is appreciated.

thanks

The following might help, Go to:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...

Scan down the page about a third of the way and find "Using the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility from the recovery partition". If it works, it will restore the laptop to the way it came from the factory.

FWIW to XP users: When you click on the 'Command Prompt' you are just causing the 'Command prompt' to be displayed. This prompt gives you access to NTVDM.EXE, the 'NT Virtual DOS Manager'.
