My laptop has a toshiba hard dirve with sata connections. I am gonna have to send it in to get some work done on it because the computer is not getting power. Local bestbuy says it is a broken power connector in the back of the laptop. I don't want to send it in with my personal info like my bank account items and was wondering if these connections will work on my desktop computer with sata. My desktop does have sata and it looks like the ones on the laptop hd. What I want to do is connect it to my desk top and copy and delete files I don't want to share with anyone else but still leave os.

It should work. (if it is a real sata) you might need to get a adapter sometimes.
Why not just keep the hard drive out of the machine at your home???
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

That would be nice and easy but they say it has to be a completed computer. Harddrive and all.

Ok it worked but I have some folders that are hidden that needs to be copied. In the options-view the three hidded items is off...no dots. I am running window xp pro and the lalptop disk is from a vista os. Is there a way to unhide these folder so that a copy of the contents can be copied?
