when i turn on my laptop or i 'wake it up' after it is sleeping a long box pops up at the top of the screen with the message 'TOSHIBA Flash Cards (Not Responding). Can anyone help me sometimes it doesn't go away and sometimes it does. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem with my new Toshiba A10/700 notebook. If you disable the flash cards, you cannot access anything through the Fn keys. This means you cannot change the screen brightness, which is vital for anyone (like me) who has calibrated their screen for photography. Toshiba support here in Sydney have told me that they're working on it, and have directed me to the Canadian site where you can download a new version of the Value Added Pack for this model. You uninstall the old one and install this. It the freezes sometimes instead of always. This is not good enough. I'm going to call the store where I boght this notebook a few weeks ago and ask them to exchange it for another brand.

I do hope that those who have written above before me will come back to view this thread again, as it would be interesting to know what programs (if any) they have open when putting their Toshiba laptops on hibernate. I have just discovered that the clash, in my case, is with Photoshop CS2, as the flash card software does not stall at all no matter how often I put my laptop on hibernate as long as Photoshop is not open. This still doesn't tell me if the problem is Vista, Photoshop or the flash cards themselves. I am now considering whether to tale the laptop back. If it won't happen in the future with another version of Photoshop, I guess I'll keep it. I do hope to get more feedback here on this. It could be useful for others, too.

I also have a Toshiba Satelite which I bought a few months ago. I dislike greatly the flash cards program. I'm curious if backing off vista and installing XP will return the functionality of the fn keys w/o the flash cards program. If anyone knows, let me know!
