|Look for the external drive in Disk Management. You may need to partition and format the drive. You can perform those operations from within Disk Management. You may also need to assign a drive letter. Assign, or reassign a letter higher than any in use by at least a few letters. Do that to avoid future issues with multiple hardware trying to use the same drive letter.|
Your external drive may have come with some included software that runs automatically. You need to read the documentation that came with the drive.
