I just went with a cable internet connection about 6 months ago. Last month I installed a Linksys router to be used as a hardware firewall. Everything is working fine. My question is, since I installed the router it appears to my cable modem that my computer is on all the time. The PC light on the modem stays on constantly. I have been noticing that if I am working off-line or if my PC is shutdown, the data light still blinks (often). Sometimes the data light is blinking as if I was downloading a file at a high rate of speed, or if someone was scanning my computer. Should I be concerned about this or is this normal? I asked the cable company and they said something about a DNS server is doing it. If anyone can give me some insight into this I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

I also scan my system with Trojan Cleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Norton Anti-Virus.
