We the consumers are the ones who lost.

Blu-Ray is way more expensive.

Aren't we lucky Sony won?

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

I'm glad I bought a HD-DVD/Bluray combo drive for my PC...I was extremely close to purchasing a set-top HD-DVD player. :)

Before Warner's decision to go BD-only, I thought that HD-DVD would be the winner. It's good that this format war is finally over.

The lean, mean, movie playing P3 machine
P3-S 1400 @ 1.66GHz, 158MHz FSB
2GB PC2700 DDR
7950GT AGP
Optoma 1280x720 projector
JBL 5.1 amp and speakers
Now storing 114 HD movies

I'm peronally glad Blu-Ray won considering I own a PS3, now I have peace of mind that this Sony's format won't go the way of Sony's last format Beta MAX.

On the upside HD-DVD players and movies will fall like a rock in price. Wal-Mart and a few other retailers are gearing up for a Fire sale on HD-DVD players and HD-DVD movies. 80 dollar HD-DVD players and 15 dollar HD-DVD movies are expected before HD-DVD dies off.

I whole heartedly agree with you. It's not so much the cost that bothers me though, It's the fact that Blu Ray is still an unfinished, undefined format which deeply concerns me. Because there is no set minimum standard, they are free to change things at will. This is not good for video editors like myself. We knew what we were getting with HD DVD, but with Blu ray we still don't.
