From Windows you can try to look at the Computer management -- Storage MMC for what partitions you have. Might be able to assign a drive letter. (see help and support pages for examples) My guess is it may show something that can't be read by MS.
In the future consider using Virtual Machines.
If not then you need forensics work done to undo format and write.
Take the drive to a professional that specializes in disk forensics
