Hi Thanks for quick reply.Actually I want to format with the same OS.The only problem is I have misplaced all my original CDs(OS,Utility) supplied with the laptop some where in transit.I have written the manufacturer, but no response. The only CD key of XP written in the back side of the laptop. Pl.Help?

In the mean time you might wish to use a live linux cd.
If you format your system it will not work.
You might have a hidden partition that contains copies of your OEM data.
