To Build box to support virtual servers

May 15, 2010 at 14:30:48
Specs: Windows Vista
I'm planning to build a box that will support virtual servers. I was told that I need to make sure that the Bios on the motherboard provides support for virtual machines. Can someone give me pointers to pick the right components? I'm looking to build a basic box to be used to build virtual servers for a Windows 2008 server testing environment.

Not sure the bios "has" to have support as a choice. Some do but not sure why.

Almost any "server" sold by any big name company would support VM's unless you put in a unsupport processor. Almost all AMD's for the past 8 years have supported VM's except the cheapest. Many intel procesors support vm's.
