a) If the laptop is old, the cmos battery could be failing.

b) Is the laptop setup for the correct country/time zone you are in?

If *not*, Windows corrects to the timezone that has been setup in the pc. This might be considerably different to your time.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Hi

would a 3 -4 year old computer be considered old as for as the cmos battery goes? if so than that is probably my problem. i have set up the right time on my computer, when it changes it goes completely off of really is.

but if battery is the problem, is there a way to resolve it?

thank you for your response

Boot into the BIOS (setup) screens and check the date and time there. If the date is off by years then that verifies you need a new CMOS battery. Do not confuse the CMOS battery with the large external battery you run the computer with.
