ticking noise power supply

Can't see my external harddrive anymore. And I hear a strange ticking noise/sound from the power supply of the hard-drive.
Is my power supply going to die??

The ticking noise is almost certainly coming from the hard disk itself and is indicative of the head seek mechanism failing. Time to buy a new hard disk and hope that there is nothing on this one that is essential or that you have backups.

But I am sure that it is coming from the power suply, it is an external one
