just installed redhat 7.1 on my compaq deskpro 575 and it is just great except i can't get into the BIOS!this thing had a weird hard drive mounted bios and i can't get at it by hitting f10 like i used to if anybody has some help it would be much apreciated

if it is a hard drive monted bios... then i would try the system recovery cd.. if not then look at it this way... of all the bios programs in the world being made at the time compaq was the most terable

You can get a downloadable version of the setup files from HP/Compaq. I have a similar vintage Prolinear 575 and now only have setup on a bootable floppy. Didn't even bother restoring the F10 partition on the harddrive, although the downloadable version can be used to do that. It's hardly worth the effort though as there is very little to configure in these old clunkers anyway. It cannot even boot from a CD. The bios has no recognition of CD drive. only floppy or fixed disk.

no i don't have a setup floppy i should go download one of those you can get the bios to detect the harddrive just put it on the second space of your harddrive cable and run system inspection it showed my ide as a scsi but it works (it still doesn't boot from the cd)
