Hi guys, I've just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate and I am actually pleasantly suprised it ain't too bad and due to my Dedicated ATI Radeon X300 Graphics I Have Full Aero Effects. However my system is a bit slow so i was thinking on upgrading the ram to 1gb by adding another DDR2 533MHZ stick and upgrading the processor, My question is can i upgrade to Core Duo will my chipset take this btw the chipset in this laptop is a Intel 915PM Express chipset part of somana as I understand any help appricated thanks.

512 mb of ram is not enough for Windows Vista Ultimate. Upgrade you ram first, 1 gb is the minimum for your os, try for 2 gb and you will speed up quite a bit.The cpu is not your bottleneck your ram is.

I agree with wemby089 your ram is a definite bottleneck within your system. As for the CPU an upgrade wouldnt make that much differnce and it wouldnt justify the cost of buying one. 1gb of some good qualtiy ram would be wise.
