The POWER battery ran out and when I switch on, it displayed messages: "Press F1 or F12 for response". Then I pressed F1 or F12-THERE WAS NO REPLY! I changed the battery to a new one, it just hands asking me the same question BUT no response. The system must have crashed! Please help.

Hi, The laptop should boot and run with the adaptor and no main battery. Look for you problems elsewhere. Good Luck, Jim

First, WHAT IS THE MODEL of your Thinkpad? Next, you can enter the bios/setup on most Thinkpads, by doing this: START with the Thinkpad OFF Hold the "F1" key and CONTINUE to hold "F1" while turning on the machine. CONTINUE to hold "F1" and that should get you into "easy setup." Check the settings, and somewhere on one of the display "pages" is a reset function, then exit and reboot.
