wow so i have to remove the entire keyboard on my thinkpad to remove the hard drive, sounds real difficult, i thought maybe it slid out somewhere like the battery.

I used to own one of those. It was the best computer I ever owned. Still works for my mother.That computer might also support pcmcia (pc card) hard drives. One can sometimes use pc card to flash adapter to run cheap hard drive on flash.
