Hi all,

Got an annoying issue that is starting to worry me. I have an old laptop that is used as the 'lounge in front of the TV and surf the net' laptop.

Of late it has started intermittantly showing faint red lines horizontally across the screen. More annoying than anything.

What could it be? I am hoping it is only the backlight.

The only things that can cause lines like that are a damaged display unit (e.g. from dropping the laptop), or some connection between the base of the laptop and the display is damaged - often where it passes through the hinge, or loose (e.g. from dropping the laptop). You can get replacement wiring that goes between the two for most laptops inexpensively.
