Thin LINE across NOTEBOOK SCREEN ?!

All of a sudden, on my Notebook Screen....a very thin White Line appeared....running left to right...a bit below the middle of the screen.
It is there where when first booting or when Windows is running.
If there is a white background...the line is Grey. The rest of the time...it is white.
This has been a GREAT notebook - never a problem. It is a bit older...but is all I need.
??? >> Has anyone else experienced this AND found a FIX ??

Bad news! It's a hardware problem. Unless you are an experienced laptop technician, you better take it to the shop. It could be a defective cable connection or a defective LCD screen.

I have worked as a desktop tech and am very comfortable with hardware.
I don't mind at least taking a look at the cable connection, if this is a strong possibility.
Do you know of any reference sites / info that cover laptap LCD cabling - or have any general tips that I can try?
