If you buy a RETAIL processor you will get an AMD Heatsink with a thermal pad attached. If you buy anything else (OEM) nother comes with it. You will need to get a new heatsink for that 6000 because you old one is not good enough.

If you buy the processor alone, usually not. If you buy the retail unit which includes a heatsink/fan, a thermal pad will be preinstalled on the heatsink. Radio Shack "heat sink grease" sells for about $3 a tube.
