ok i gots the a7n8x-x. its got a heatsink on the chipset. i wanna take the cooler i was usin for my 9600 and use it for this thing. i got a whole bunch of thermal paste, but i dont got a pad. which one would i use. and another thing, how do i get the damn sink off. its got them push pin things. hah how do u work them things? this is the cooler i got that i wanna put on it:

Do you really have to do this?. Anyway get a long nose plier and carefully ease both spring clips from the underside of the mobo to remove the stock heatsink from the chipset.

You can then either use some thermal adhesive to glue the new fan to your chipset or use the retaining clips from the heatsink to secure the fan in place.

so i gotta remove the whole mobo to do this? the clips would be reusable right?

A "whole bunch of thermal paste"? What does that mean? You only need a tiny dab!

Why did you feel the need to do this anyway? I have the same board, overclocked to 210mhz & have never had any problems. I wouldn't even consider doing what you plan on doing. What's the purpose? What do you think you're gonna gain? You run the risk of damaging the board for something that IMO is unnecessary.

what i meant is that i have a lot of SPARE thermal paste. i didnt mean that....uh...what you thought. overclocked to 210mhz? what do u mean? whats OCed to 210?
