It's a moving part, they wear out. You could try cleaning it out with compressed air. You may have to open up the unit and remove the palmrest assembly & pull & reseat the touchpad ribbon cable. The Palmrest is the whole top cover of the laptop with the mouse touchpad on it. Look that up on YouTube or on the HP Support site.

Thank you much.

Do you know what keys I can use in place of the "right click"?

Shift+F10 ?

I should have also put in my 1st response, to check the Mouse Settings in Properties first to make sure Right click is set accordingly. Also, sometimes, though somewhat rare, the mouse driver CAN get corrupt, then UNinstalling & REinstalling the touchpad drivers might be the first step in troubleshooting.

O' thank you so much for the shift f10 info. That is the ticket! I thought for some reason it was control + alt + v.

Strangely the (shift + F10) doesn't always give me the same options that I'd have if the right click button was working.

Almost immediately after I 1st used the (shift + F10) the right click started working just fine, for about 2 days straight. But stopped again & hasn't worked again.

Does that sound like its wearing out, or worn out vs. something else?

Thanks again.

Fair enough. What about the fact that the shift + F-10 don't give the same options as the right click button does all the time?

On a on-line game I play some features of the game stopped working around the same time as the right click stopped working. Another gamer told me that my cpu settings or something must of been changed.

No one else has access to my pc but me, so maybe I did on accident.

How can I switch it back?
