Just recently, I pressed the power button to turn the computer on and it lighted up, but then died. It tried doing the same thing over and over again. Nothing shows up on the screen. I have called HP, but they told me that because my warranty is up that I would have to pay 149.99 for a new year warranty. My question is what should I do? Should I sign up for the new warranty? Will the warranty cover the cost of getting the motherboard replaced? Or should I just invest in a brand new computer?

Your laptop seems to be fairly new. Why don't you take it to a local shop first and get an estimate on what it would cost to have it repaired. It might just be a power supply. That decision is yours, but from what I read about the specs of your machine, I wouldn't buy a new one. I would have it repaired. Good Luck.

What makes you so sure the motherboard is bad?
