The monitior on my computer says no signal

August 22, 2011 at 10:59:32
Specs: Windows 7
This morning my computer was working fine but the monitor randomly turned off and now it says on the monitor that there is no signal. I tried using a different monitor and it says the same problem, no signal. So then i figured that i had a faulty VGA cable so i bought a brand new one and tried that cable with both monitors with the same results, no signal.

Check to see if the vga port on the video card is broken., sometimes if the cord gets pulled to hard in the wrong derection the port can break casing a short in the port. The port should not wiggle at all., also cheak the pins on the back of the port for broken or coroded ones

If you have another card put it in and hook the monitor to it and see if it works.
also if its a card make sure the card is furmly inserted to the socket and mounted with a screw (do all this with the power off or you could fry you whole motherboard)

lastly if your pc installed new drivers for it tri rolling them back to the old ones.
Nvidia drivers are good at messing stuff up when installed threw windows update

{right click my computer,go to properties, device manager, click display adapters,right click your adapter, goto properties, driver tab, then hit rollback driver}
you might have to restart

good luck and i hope it works for you

It's not getting a signal because the computer isn't providing one. It might be the video card/controller or something else. Check my # 2 here for some possibilities:
