Hi

today suddenly my comp. system gives me error "The disk in Drive D is not formatted , Do you want to format it " whenever I access the D drive through Windows Explorer.
My 40GB Hard disk has four drives C, D, E, F .
All others dirves are accessible other than D drive
I have tried Partition Recovery tools but they all are unable to locate D drive
I have some very important data on the drive , which i dont want to lose

I think but not sure, that this all happens after I run a utility to confiure windows WMI before instaslling SQL Server 2008

Please help me out

"I have tried Partition Recovery tools" which ones ? Have you tried 'testdisk' ? It normally does a good job to fix your error.

Check your hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostics.

If you don't have a floppy drive, you can get a CD image diagnostic utility from most hard drive manufacturer's web sites, but obviously you would need to make a burned CD, preferably a CD-R for best compatibilty, on another computer if you need to.

If the hard drive itself tests okay, any data problems found can be fixed, one way or another.
