Well, I'm beyond sick and tired of this now. I was wondering if you all could please tell me what you would honestly say is the very best monitor out there as far as quality and *accuracy* of picture goes. I'm not as worried about the size as I am the picture being totally correct and not at all distorted, although I would like to find one like that that's at least seventeen inches, but if I have to go smaller in order to get better quality or something like that, that's okay. I don't even care about the price, so long as it works right. I'm just so beyond sick and tired of dealing with this problem. I've wasted more time dealing with this than it's worth. I might as well just spend whatever I have to spend in money rather than in time and headache to get what I want, and what should be expected, from a monitor.

Anyway, if you all could please tell me what you'd say is the CRT monitor with the best quality and picture accuracy, I'd really appreciate it. It does have to be a CRT too since I like and trust those more than anything else out there nowadays and have read many reviews saying that those are best to use for playing video games for numerous reasons. I also don't like those widescreen things that are so popular now. I want just a good old regular square to view things on. It's also important that it has a very good high-voltage regulation, meaning it doesn't expand and contract with brighter and darker images, which seems to be a problem with this one I have now.

...Anyway, sorry for making this so long. I guess that's it, though.

It's got a 4ms GTG response time (5ms BTW), it's 19" and made by ViewSonic. Here is a review of it:

I have always been pleased with monitors that use "Trinitron" (aperture grille) technology. Sony and NEC are two major companies that manufacture Trinitron-based monitors. For instance, check out the following model:

MultiSync FE770

Just a suggestion before you go out and get yourself a new monitor, if you got someone you can borrow one from, try theirs first. This way you can make sure your onboard video or card is not the culprit. I have known cards to do some strange things before they die.

Suggestion also if you do get a new monitor be sure to setup the Power Options in Control Panel to like 5 or 10 min to turn off. This will help save wear on your monitor vs the screen saver. Also make sure to set the proper refresh rate for the resolution & monitor size. Also only keep the brightness as comfortable as your eyes can stand, by this meaning not too dim but don't crank up the brightness/ contrast to the max as it will eventually "over a period of years" wash out your colors.

Thank you all very much for your responses. I'm going to post my response in a new post, though, because for one, the subject matter has now changed since I'm no longer interested in flat-screen CRTs, and also I'm hoping a new topic will draw more attention than an old one that already has a few replies.
