Hi
Are TFT montiors easier on the eye than CRT? I currently have 19" CRT and from tome to time it causes my eye to go sore and takes a few days to clear (Can't use the PC during this time).
Would the same problem arise with TFT?
Cheers

This post might help (not too far down from this post)

Also,
if you google LCD vs CRT, you might get your answer too. I refuse to pay LCD prices, so I don't really know the differences. When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

Hi all,
Been using my LCD Monitor for a few years now, almost every day.
I usually spend 8hrs or more sat in front of it.
No headaches or bad eyes at all.
I am dreading it's failure though but hopefully by the time it expires they will be much cheaper.
The cheapest I've seen is about £170.

This is just my opinion, but I'm sure many other people will agree with me here.
I think that LCDs are easier on the eye.
My Samsung 172x TFT LCD monitor was bright though when I first got it - REALLY bright. Killed my eyes. lol.
But that's no problem, if the LCD is too bright you can just adjust the settings. That's what I did. I adjusted the brightness and contrast.
Now it's easy to look at, my eyes don't get sore or anything.
Really, LCDs are just better in general.
Some will claim that CRTs are better for gaming than LCDs. But an LCD with 12ms response time shouldn't give you any trouble.
LCDs have a much sharper picture also. You can achieve (roughly) the same sharpness with a CRT that has an aperture grill - but this might not be a good idea if you like to play your music loud (the vibrations can cause distortion - as the grill is basically a bunch of metal wires in a grid).
Also CRTs generate much more heat. It's also hard to get a perfect rectangle with a CRT. With an LCD it's always a perfect rectangle.
And there is sometimes distortion with a CRT if for example your speakers are too close.
With an LCD there will be no distortion from speakers being too close.
And the lifespan of a LCD is just about the same as the lifespan of a CRT. However there are many components in a CRT - particularly the electron gun I believe - that with time begin to die, I guess you could say.
But with an LCD the only thing that really gets old and begins to 'die' are the backlights - which can be (I believe but don't hold me to it) - replaced.
The only thing that I don't like about LCDs? The price!
But I think it's worth it. (hugs Samsung LCD). Heh.
