I would think that you could still use Win XP with a monochrome monitor, but you could also probably pick up an inexpensive CRT color monitor, which would be much better. If you really want Win 98, you could check places like Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/730-00847-Windows-98-SE/dp/B00002JV62). Remember, Win 98 is still under Microsoft copyright, so it's not free ... you will probably need to purchase a copy, unless you know someone who has an old copy he is willing to give you.
Thank godness Intel is finally getting rid of the Centrino name next year and replacing it with WiMAX instead, which will not confuse the avg consumer nearly as much as Centrino did by many avg consumers thinking that it was a type of processor all of these years.
