My TDK 5200B will not play DVDs or read some installation discs. I recently installed "Dazzle" video converter - works like a charm, but the TDK (as well as my old NEC) will not read the "Extras" installation disc from Pinnacle Studios. My older PC will read the disc just fine - boots right away, so I know the disc is good. Drivers for the TDK were updated - still won't fly. BTW - I have never used the DVD ability on this unit. Optical drives don't need drivers, but they do need software programs for burning, DVD viewing, etc. Make sure you have it installed properly. It's best NOT to have two optical drives on the same cable/channel. Prim master = HDD1 w/OS Prim slave = optical drive (reader) 2ndary master = optical drive (writer) 2ndary slave = HDD2 If you don't have a 2nd HDD, there should be no 2ndary slave.

Just to add, if you only have the HDD & optical drive, they should be on different cables/channels, both jumpered as master.
