Please help! My laptop won't boot up. Whenever I power it on, all it does is show the Windows ME logo screen and then a black screen with the message "Windows can't update file from %1 to %2". This message just scrolls up repeatedly on the screen. Does wnybody have any idea as to what may be wrong? Help!

======================================================= If the message keeps scrolling like you describe then it is very likely that you are seeing the output of a batch file (probably the autoexec.bat). Try pressing F8 at startup to get the boot menu and boot into WinMe in safe mode. Copy and then delete the autoexec.bat file found in your root directory (C:\) and try rebooting. NOTE: There may be needed file references in the autoexec.bat so DO NOT delete this from your root until you have it copied somewhere else. This course of action is just to test that what I have suggested is the actual case in point. Let us know.
