Some months ago I had this problem. I played a game for 5-10 minutes and the game would go from 50 fps to 10 fps, and stay around that for 5 minutes, then go back to normal, then it would turn into 10 fps again, repeat. It was fixed by replacing the Power Supply. It was fixed for a while, now the problem is back, except it's worse, I play for 3-5 minutes and it goes does down to 5-10 fps, and stays there, it doesn't go back to normal. This also happens when I have some firefox windows opened.

"cpu" is used to denote your PROCESSOR. You mean it's using a lot of your POWER SUPPLY'S power. Can you give some specs on your psu ?

Well I said CPU because that's what it's accused in the task manager. Anyway, the PSU is a CoolerMaster M700.

OK-when you said "It was fixed by replacing the Power Supply" I thought you were implying that the cpu was using too many watts from the psu. The CoolerMaster M700 looks like a good power supply. Are you saying that the cpu usage was at a high percentage in task manager ? What cpu and video card are you using ?

I have a Pentium D 3.00 GHz, an ATI Radeon HD4850 512MB. And yes, the cpu usage is high when it happens.
