Hello,
Recently i built my computer. it was working fine until i tried to set up raid. After i tried to install my second hard drive the system didnt boot anymore. I am afraid something failed to start because i can see the light is on and the fans are spinning but the monitor is not showing anything. I guess that would be because of the mohterboard but i am not sure. Could anyone help me out to find the problem, if i could fix it it would be great otherwise if i could least know which component of my system is not working propeprly so that i can eventually return it.I have destop board intel 875. proc.intel 2.6, 800 bus speed, memory corsair xt DDR 2x256 ,radeon 9800 ...
Thanks

Disconnect all harddrive cables from the motherboard and try to boot. If you POST to a screen saying something like system disk failure, then you problem is simply the way you are configuring the harddrives or missing RAID controller drivers. Usually a message is displayed during POST that says if you need to install SCSI or RAID controllers hit *** now. Did you do that?

OtheHill,
Sorry for the stupid question but what exactly is a POST because i cant see anything on my screen. Its like the screen is turn off. But in a way, when i tried to set up RAID, i got a message that the system cant recognize my second hard drive and then i supposed that it is because i forgot to change the CD-RW to slave as i out a,ready the HDD as master at same IDE.Then , when i tried to restart the thing happened. Since then i dont see any message on my screen. Indeed, i dont hear the beep when the system starts as well as the save-start(when the system boots for like 1 second after i un-plug and plug). Later, i put everything back to the original setup, the one that works before. I tried to preconfigure the bios to the default one using the jupmer on the motherboard . So far, the problem remains the same..

POST screen is the info that comes up on the screen when you start your computer. POST tells you what BIOS brand, version and build date. Also, what hardware is recognized. If you did clear the CMOS your date will be wrong. Try clearing your CMOS again. There is a jumper on your motherboard with 3 pins. Be sure to use the correct jumper. There may be other 3 pin jumpers on the MB. Should be marked, CLR CMOS. Normal run position is on center and one of the others. Clear is moved momentarily to the other position. Do this while the computer is unplugged. Reposition the jumper to the run position and reboot. You will probably need to reset some items in the BIOS, because clearing the CMOS resets all settings to factory default. The time and date will be wrong for sure and other things may be. You may need to enable/disable on board hardware like modem, network, ports, USB support for keyboard, etc. Look around in the BIOS and set as needed. If you are unsure about a setting leave it at default. Most systems use the Del key to enter the BIOS but could be F1, F2 or something else. Repeatedly hit the appropiate key after starting the computer.
