Well you can't underclock if you can't get into the bios so here's why (skip it if you want) and later is how:

WHY --> Ha! I figured you had an Athlon 64! But the bigger question is what chipset do you have? See, the older chipsets, namley the K8T800 (non pro) and older Nforce3, when you overclock (increase the FSB) it also increases the speed of the agp bus (because there's no agp lock on the older chipsets). Consequently the agp (graphics) bus is going too fast, and that's why there is no video coming out of your screen. (because your gfx card can't handle the agp speed)

If you have the newer chipset then you need to enable the agp bus speed lock.

I know.

HOW --> I could overclock fine with my GF4 Ti 4200 at a fsb of 220, but as soon as I got my Radeon 9800 pro I couldn't (The screen was black) because the card couldn't handle the agp speed that high.

hat I'm getting at is, IF YOU PUT ANOTHER GRAPHICS CARD IN, that can handle that higher fsb(not necessarily a newer one), THEN YOU CAN GET INTO YOUR BIOS AND LOWER THE FSB TO NORMAL, and then put your other gfx card back in you are good.

Hope this helps.

well thanks for the idea. i just sent my cpu back and am getting a new one so hopefully its just the cpu cause i wouldnt know where to find a gfx that can handle more fsb and i definatley dont want to dish out anymore money after spending so much on my pc.
